Transforming Sharanya's balcony into a lush urban oasis was a dream project! 🌿✨
This one holds a special place in my heart. When the designer and client are on the same vibe, magic truly happens!
Sharanya knew exactly what she wanted, challenging us to seamlessly blend her beautiful vintage pieces and travel memoirs into the design. Drawing inspiration from her vision, we teamed up with Dilan from Joachim Furniture to custom-make pieces that embody elegance and ergonomic comfort for her and her husband.
Working with Sharanya was an absolute joy, and we couldn't be happier with the serene escape we created together.

Minimal Green Elegance for Project Dushyanti ✨🌿
This modern, Eastern European-inspired home deserved greenery that would enhance, not overpower, its stunning architecture. Our goal was simple: keep it minimal yet luxurious, allowing the beauty of the home to shine through.
We added subtle touches of green throughout, incorporating low-maintenance plants like Pothos and variegated Rubber Plants for a hint of elegance. For the terrace, we chose Travellers’ Palms and Agave to complement the space.
To create a striking focal point, we paired Sansevieria and Pothos around the massive entrance door. And at the main entrance, we planted a vibrant pink bougainvillea that will eventually form a breath-taking arch, completing this serene home.
A project that shows how a little greenery can go a long way in transforming a space!

Greening the Concrete Jungle ✨🌿
Transforming the Colombo Innovation Tower for the Academy of Design was an inspiring project! The brief was simple yet impactful: bring life into this concrete structure with lush greenery.
We worked with their beautiful iron shelves, using them as a canvas to create an archway of vibrant plants in terracotta pots. This earthy touch not only added character to the space but also filled the room with a delightful, natural aroma.
The result? A living, breathing masterpiece. With a carefully curated mix of indoor and low-maintenance plants, we turned the space into a green oasis, promoting air purification and enhancing its overall ambiance.
From vibrant greens to earthy tones, this project was all about merging design and nature to bring the space to life. 🌱

A Full Circle Moment with Minimalistic Charm ✨🌿
This project for the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewellery Association may have been one of the smallest we've done, but it holds a special place in my heart. When I first started The Balcony Project, I had doubts about whether this concept would resonate in Sri Lanka. Thanks to Natalie from Pendi, whose mentorship gave me the courage and clarity to take that leap, I found my confidence.
Years later, when Natalie trusted The Balcony Project to create a beautiful courtyard landscape, it felt like everything had come full circle.
For this project, we embraced minimalism and simplicity. Instead of stones, we used coconut husks for a budget-friendly yet unique finish. We chose a cluster of Rhaphis Palms, Philodendrons, and Ferns to add lushness and life to the space.
Though it was heart-breaking to see the avocado tree at the site cut down, we found a way to preserve its legacy. By planting Bird’s Nest Ferns and Pothos to grow on its bark, we ensured the space would still benefit from its presence.
The garden was completed with Malaysian grass and river pebbles, creating a serene retreat for office employees to enjoy in the evenings. The welcoming touch? A row of Rhaphis Palms on either side of the entrance, making it inviting and serene.
A heartfelt thank you to Natalie and Team Pendi for trusting my brand. I look forward to many more collaborations in the future!

Elibank House
Project Elibank was one of our first big adventures and a project packed with fun challenges. The highlight? Hauling a massive rooftop swing into place and getting it cushioned on-site—definitely not your average day!
We gave the space a stunning green makeover with artificial turf, low-maintenance plants, and a chic Pothos-covered wall that brought just the right touch of jungle vibes to Colombo's urban buzz. We also installed a striking red cane palm in a large planter and transformed the entrance into a charming garden with towering rubber plants layered with delicate lilies at their base.
Completed during the chaos of COVID, this project was as rewarding as it was challenging, and we’re thrilled with the vibrant, refreshing retreat we created amidst the city’s hustle!

Transforming urban living into a plant paradise! 🌿✨
Bringing nature indoors effortlessly! 🌿
Our plant consultation for this Nordic-inspired apartment featured two balconies adorned with lush greens, harmoniously blending with clean lines and a pastel palette. Elevating luxury aesthetics, we introduced custom-designed pots that not only resonate with the client's style but also match the interior's colour profile seamlessly.

Tranquil Oasis
Welcome to our latest project, where we have successfully transformed all exterior balconies, including the terrace balcony, into enchanting spaces filled with natural beauty. The focal point of this project involves the installation of curtain creeper troughs, creating a captivating waterfall effect that gracefully descends the house exterior.
The terrace balcony has been reimagined into a cozy chill-out nook, providing a perfect escape for relaxation and privacy. Lush tropical plants adorn the space, including a carefully curated selection of Philodendrons, Sansevieria, Heliconia, and Rhaphis Palms, all elegantly arranged in beautiful white troughs creating a serene atmosphere.
To ensure a tranquil retreat, a small seating area has been thoughtfully incorporated, inviting residents to unwind amidst the lush greenery. The strategic placement of the tropical foliage not only adds aesthetic appeal but also serves the practical purpose of concealing the view of the maid's room, providing an additional layer of privacy.
As you approach the main entrance, you'll be greeted by a narrow ledge adorned with Indian Head Ginger plants, housed in white troughs. This carefully designed feature adds a touch of elegance and greenery to the entrance wall, setting the tone for the serene oasis that lies beyond.
In alignment with our commitment to serene living environments, we've introduced a variety of low-maintenance indoor plants throughout the home. These plants contribute to an overall calming ambiance, seamlessly integrating nature with modern living.
Our team has meticulously selected low-maintenance plants to ensure that the beauty of this transformed space remains effortlessly sustainable. This project is a testament to our commitment to creating harmonious living environments that seamlessly blend nature and architecture. Explore the images of this stunning transformation and envision the possibilities for your urban sanctuary.

Canterbury Golf Resort Cafe
One of our first commercial projects. We were super excited to get the foliage right at this beautiful location developed by @homelands.skyline
If you miss the English countryside and are looking for that home away from home, do check out @homelands.skyline development of housing projects.
The brief was to get #artificial foliage done for the communal cafe at the resort. This project was special to us as it reminded us of our home, England. This was our tribute to starting fresh in Sri Lanka and looking forward to many more successful years here in this beautiful island!
✨Artificial plant shelf was all handcrafted by the team at @the_balcony_project , with carefully selected vintage inspired planters to go on the shelves.
✨All cafe tables had a small arrangement of artificial ferns housed in a beautiful Aztec inspired planter.
✨And the #featurewall had our very own custom-designed Vertical Wall Grass with added Selloum leaves that brought the wall to life 🌿
Thank you to @urbanspacelk for trusting us to bring life to this project. 🙏🙂

Nordic Balcony Makeover
We did a complete transformation of this balcony from the floor to the ceiling.
The couple gave us a brief of cozying up the space and making this space a livable space for them.
After speaking with the lovely April and Birendra, we knew exactly what they were looking for. We loved the fact that it was a fairly large balcony for us to work in.
We created this gorgeous, minimalist-ish, Nordic style balcony for them to chill and also make it feel like an extended part of their living room.
We loved their reaction to the end result! 💚
We started by giving the balcony new flooring. We used composite wood flooring for easy maintenance and it instantly lifted up the space!
The cane sofa lounger was designed by our team and we opted for a beige awning fabric with black piping. Because every little detail matters!
Added two extra Teak chairs with the same fabric detailing. And used some gorgeous throw pillows from to finish the seating and a lovely coffee table.
Ofcource all the plants and the accessories are our in-house products, either we custom make them or source them to order.

Heineken Head Office
One of our quick turnover projects was done for Heineken's new office in Colombo. The team was very easy work with and all they wanted was the beautiful Raphis Palms in black pots.
Also commonly known as The Lady Palm (Rhapis excelsa) is a small palm species that grows in dense clumps of slender upright green stems. On the stems are fan-shaped, glossy green fronds that each have between five and eight narrow, lance-shaped segments. Because this palm is extremely tolerant of low-light conditions, it's popular to grow indoors as a houseplant. This palm has a fairly slow growth rate, gaining less than a foot in height per year. 🌴
Raphis Palms are ideal for your home, office or apartment, and yes they do well outdoors too! 🙌✨🌟

Babylon
Jungle Cozy Vibe
Complementing a very cool co-working space with TBP touches.
Creating an air purifying environment with a host of indoor plants. Creepers in the open space, influencing the view from inside for the folks to enjoy. Adding finesse to the open area floor with large white stones to make the artificial turf, pop. Covering ghastly wires and pipes with TBP products to make it look clean. Finally hanging terrarium fish bowls with unique succulent & cacti to finish off an already stunning property.

The Coming of Spring
Transforming a lifeless, barren space in the heart of Colombo into a beautiful oasis filled with vivid colours and sleek silhouettes.
The seasons must change; but when they don’t, it’s up to us to create the transformation. In this project, our teak outdoor pallet-inspired seater is accompanied by waterproof cushioning that mirrors the bright spring colours of the tulips that sit across from it.
The custom-made lavender vertical wall and lush synthetic turfing complete the impression of a spring sanctuary far above the bustle of the city – a place for new ideas and new hopes.

Serenity
Our brief was to create a soothing space which complimented the view using only light colors.
We custom-made hanging tin planters that contrasted with the charcoal walls of The Residence @ One Galle Face. We curated cushions with intricate piping and tufted buttons that
complimented the view of the sea and doubled as additional floor
seating. We added our very own TBP cacti floor planter which blended in with the surrounding view of city towers and finished off with luxurious copper lanterns that twinkle with fairy lights. Perfect to shift the mood from modern in the day and cozy by the
night. The fabric used for the outdoor seating is from our range of water-repellent fabrics – Cartenza.

The Window Box Balcony
Breathing life into an industrial space right in the middle of this salon to camouflage the unsightly pipes and bathroom windows with beautiful long creepers and Peonies planters.
This bridal studio, Bettans Bridal, was a challenging yet a beautiful project that we’ve just completed. The challenge was to hide the unsightly pipes running down a 22 feet closed air vent, disguise the bathroom windows and do all if this at a budget.
To do this, we custom-made gorgeous 22 feet high creepers with hints of cherry blossom at the ends. This gave the illusion of the creepers falling down from heaven.
We added the window-box planters made of artificial Peonies and foliage in a cane basket which gave it the pop of colour, and finished off with our luscious synthetic turf.

The Minimalist
Using the less is more philosophy
We did these orange, black and grey outdoor seating for a co- working space, Catalyst – Hub 9, that matches their logo.
The fabric used for the outdoor seating is from our range of water-repellent fabrics – Cartenza. Our gorgeous black straight-up planters and the synthetic ball plant add the finesse it requires.

The Yard
Learning that the things we take for granted can become our best features.
The brief was to “make it seem like a yard”.
We set to work, and decided that simplicity would help. We laid down beautiful lush green turf, lined by sparkling white pebbles and complemented it with a vibrant grass wall.
Antique lanterns in the corner add just the right touch of magic to this cozy, high-up yard.

The Deck
Finding peace in the midst of chaos.
When life seems like it’s moving at breakneck speed and there’s no respite from the stresses of the day, this composite wood decking sanctuary is just what the doctor ordered. The minimalistic décor and reassuring, smooth wooden surfaces are designed to bring calm to the midst of any storm.
For this project, we used composite wood decking which was easy to install without any damage to the tiled floor beneath. To bring out the minimalist character of this space, we paired a foldable teak chair with white Hydrangeas and purple Verbena flowers in a geometric cement planter. To amp up the oomph factor, we added a white carved stool and fairy light lanterns.
